Firm History

Levy, Stern, Ford & Wallach was founded in 1953 by Abe F. Levy, and has since devoted itself exclusively to the representation of labor unions and injured workers throughout Southern California. Mr. Levy was well-respected amongst his peers, and spearheaded the fight to achieve decent wages and working conditions for all people, establishing numerous precedents before the National Labor Relations Board and state and federal courts with regard to the rights of unions and individual workers.

In the field of workers' compensation, Mr. Levy authored Labor Code Section 4600, the most important piece of workers' compensation legislation created in the last 50 years. He assisted in drafting the California Educational Employees Relations Act and the California Higher Educational Employees Relations Act. In addition, he founded the California Applicants' Attorneys Association, an organization dedicated to preserving the integrity, dignity, and rights of injured workers through the law and state legislature

Although Mr. Levy passed away in 1997, the firm continues to fight in his name on behalf of injured workers and labor unions across many different industries.

Firm Philosophy

Today, Levy, Stern, Ford & Wallach (LSFW) is one of the few firms in Southern California to represent both injured workers and labor unions. Our lawyers are sensitive to the unique requirements of representing union members and employees alike, and understand the overlap between collective bargaining agreements, grievances, and workers' compensation issues.  We maintain close ties to the labor community in order to stay abreast of all current developments and provide the best possible representation in all facets of labor and employment law.  

We are not only committed to representing workers and unions, but to educating the community.  Many of our attorneys teach the Workers' Compensation seminar for the Labor Studies Center program of the Los Angeles Trade Technical College.  On behalf of labor unions, LSFW conducts training seminars covering all aspects of workers' rights; seminars which we believe can be a vital component to the maintenance of a successful labor organization.
